Week 12
This is the last week of my industrial training. Therefore, I am trying to complete the report and pass it to my supervisor for checking before submit to the manager. There are some company private and confidential details that cannot be included in the report and must be omitted. After checked by my supervisor, I submit my report soft copy to the training manager. Besides, he also gives me a industrial training certification letter. Last but not least, I thanked all my colleagues and farewell with them. End of my 3 months training session!!! ^^

Week 11
Not much new things in this week, I continued to do my industrial training report. As my supervisor was on leave for 2 days, I was assigned to follow up her monitoring job on a new device called COL lot. I was to check the materials and make sure the lot run smoothly. I must report to the engineer if something happened.
On Friday, our company had organized a marathon, named as 'Micron Run'. All workers were allowed to take part in the 3km run. It was a nice event which could boost both the workers' stamina and the mind. I appreciated this program a lot. Our site manager, Mr. Jim Beuerle got the 1st place in the 3km run. All the workers had a nice time today.

Week 10
Well, I continued to edit the 8D report on the open short issue. A sample of 8D report was given for reference. The purpose of 8D report is to respond to the customer's complain or question regarding the respective problem. It is to present the problem and the solution in a clear and easy to understand way. The 8D stands for 8 Disciplines:
Discipline 1: Form a team
Discipline 2: Problem description
Discipline 3: Containment action
Discipline 4: Root cause analysis
Discipline 5: Permanent corrective action
Discipline 6: Confirm the action effect
Discipline 7: Preventive action
Discipline 8: Congratulate the team
As listed above, the 8 disciplines are the procedures to follow in order to formulate the report.
My lecturer site visit was on wednesday,9 Jun 2010, by Mr. Adzly.
He was a very friendly and kind person, we had a discussion in the conference room, together with my supervisor. We talked about what I had been doing here, what I had learnt here and how was the environment here. We had a nice discussion session.
Besides, I also started doing the report for industrial training.

Week 9
We received some customer complaint, so we were to search for the product's targa, but it was 2 years ago. My superintendent, CS LIONG and I went to a store room to search for it. This is a tough job as the targa was for 2 years ago. We spent a lot of time and at last, it was found.
My chief engineer gave me some job today. It was to search and key in data from a checklist. It was quite tedious because you must search every page to locate a specific type of data. But it was a new thing to learn.
A mini project on analyzing "Open Short" was given by my supervisor. Open short is reject criteria occur in heat test. If the unit tested had no connection, it will be categorized as open short, as the wire in the unit was broken. I took X-Ray, gathered some data from the line's checklist in order to make it into a report. It is a 8D report, its purpose is to identify the problem, make containment action, analysis, simulation and also conclusion. This is a good analytical skill will be very useful in the future. I required quite a long time to do this report as I was new to kind of analytical type report.

Week 8
I got sick quite serious this week, so 2 days MC for me. Therefore, nothing much to be done this week. I just help to key in some statical process control data into a system called datalyzer. This system is used for quality control management, or to monitor how is the production quality data flow. As for some new thing, my superintendent brought me to "Burn In" section. This place is to test how far the chip can stand rapid temperature rise and drop until it snap. It is a very important testing process, to guard against failure product escape.

Week 7
As for this week, I took the pictures of the 4N&2N wires in the FA lab using the SEM machines. Next, I was told to run a total of 47 leadframes in order to check the leadframes' decolouration problem. As a result, no problem was detected after performing X-Ray for the wires. But it was very time consuming.
This week, unfortunately, a exposed pad case was detected, but only 1 unit in the whole lot. Therefore, I keyed in information into the time mapping summary. Micron's team, our new company boss visited our site this week, our company gave them a warm welcome to Muar.
The team gave all the staff a briefing session about Micron.
I was assigned to find out what is ball shear, ball height, loop height, die shear and also pull test. There is a spec parameter for each of the category. Besides that, I also helped to keyed in the Statical Process Control (SPC) data into the Datalyzer spectrum database. The purpose of the data was to monitor the quality of the product by looking at the graph presented by the keyed in data. The QA department staff will make improvement base on the SPC graph. There was Upper & Lower limit for the SPC value, if it was to exceed the limit, actions must be taken to solve the problems.
